Mt. Evans

It had been more than two years since we made the drive to Mt. Evans along the highest road in North America.  The first (and last time) was only a few days after we had moved to Denver.  That was the day a couple of avid hikers from Arizona learned what an extra 12,000 feet of elevation will do to you.

This time around we knew what we were in for.  The goal was much simpler than hiking a 14er the second we stepped into Colorado...we just wanted to take some pictures of mountain goats and maybe see the sun set from the top.

There is something about being above the clouds.  Watching them roll over the high alpines lakes and still be well below you gives you such a cool feeling.

The smoke from the recent rash of wildfires in the west was blowing through Colorado, giving an interesting effect to the pictures and sunset....
