Alamosa Wildlife Refuge & Great Sand Dunes NP
We ended up taking a bit of an impromptu trip down to Alamosa for dark night skies to see the Perseids meteor shower. While down there we decided to check out the Alamosa Wildlife Refuge.....
Great Sand Dunes
We spent two nights at the Dunes trying to see the meteor shower. The first night was cloudy and so windy that I couldn't even set up my tripod. We tried to wait it out but around 2:30am we had to call it. The second night we were treated to more of the same, including an almost full moon that didn't set till 3am. The sunset was amazing so it wasn't a total loss......
