Mount Rushmore

Twenty minute traffic jam on 16 en route to Mount Rushmore.....

All my life people have been telling me that Mount Rushmore is a lot smaller than you'd think it would be.  Those people must have seen it from the Highway coming in because up close it is big and impressive.

I will say though that the monument is set up to accommodate a crazy amount of people.  Huge dining hall, the biggest gift shop I've seen at a Park and multiple parking garages.  On a windy, cold January afternoon we shared the park with two other people.  Winter is definitely the way to go.
