American Basin

After running from thunder and lightning on our previous two days in Telluride we were prepared for another rainy day on the Alpine Loop.  We headed directly towards Cinnamon pass in hopes of making it to American Basin before a total downpour.

The rain held off as we made our way through endless fields of paintbrushes. The low hanging fog and mist made for a very cool scene.

American Basin

American Basin didn't disappoint.  Last year we were a few weeks early and there were 1/10th of the flowers blooming.  As Jenni put it "If you added up all the columbines I'd ever seen before today I think there would be less than what's here today..."

Of all the things you could be up to your neck in, wildflowers have to be one of best....
